As part of the National Year of Reading PGS is running the Family Reading Tree Challenge to promote and reward reading together. This is a chance for pupil's and there families to share and benefit from the amazing reading culture here at PGS.
Studies show that shared reading for pleasure increases academic performance, improves relationships and supports healthier mental wellbeing. Find out more about the benefits or family reading on the Research & Rewards tab.
Every pupil will begin the year as the trunk of their own family tree, in order for the tree to flourish tasks must be completed by both pupil and family, collecting leaves, blossoms, fruits and a range of surprises.
Different tasks will be revealed throughout the year, giving different family members, genres and skills and chance to shine.
Those families with the most flourishing reading trees will be invited to a celebration event to receive their awards.
Visit 'The Challenges' page to see what tasks have already been set.
It is up to you who counts as your family, from parents and siblings to neighbours and colleagues, whoever enriches your reading life, we want you to share this challenge with them.
